Rules and Regulations

General Information

  1. Name and Organizer
    The “Sounds of the Land of Fire” International Music Competition is organized by Azerbaijani Academic Assosiation (ASAV), an association established under Austrian law and listed in the Central Register of Associations of the Austrian Federal Ministry of the Interior (registration number ZVR 759048938).

  2. Date and Location
    The competition will be held on September 4, 2025, in Vienna, Austria.

Eligibility and Application

  1. Age Requirement
    Applicants must be between 18 and 35 years of age by January 2025 (born after December 31, 1990, and before January 1, 2007).

  2. Registration Process

    • Deadline: Registration closes on August 1, 2025, by 23:59 CET.

    • Applicants must submit their application via the official competition website (http://www.lofmc.com), including all the required documents with the proof of payment of the registration fee.

    • Registration Fee: A one-time, non-refundable payment of 45 EUR is required to submit the application form.

  3. Acceptance of Rules

    • By submitting the application form, the applicant accepts all rules and regulations of the competition.

    • Submission of the application signifies the candidate’s agreement with the rules and the conclusion of a contract between the candidate and the competition.

Competition Rounds

  1. First Round (Video Selection)​
    • Participants may submit one or two videos featuring a repertoire of their choice, recorded within the last two years.

    • Each recording must be captured using a single fixed camera, clearly showing the musician's face and hands.

    • The program must be performed from memory.

    • Results for the First Round will be announced on August 10, 2025.

    • Each participant is required to submit one or more videos with a total duration not exceeding 15 minutes.

    • There is no minimum time limit.

  2. Second Round (Live Round)

    • The Second Round will be performed live before a jury panel and will be open to public attendance in Vienna, Austria.

    • Performances that exceed the allotted time may be cut short by the jury

    • Each participant is required to perform a recital with a maximum duration of 25 minutes.

    • While the repertoire is chosen by the contestant, it MUST include at least one work by an Azerbaijani composer from the list. (Note: The PDF format of the score of each work can be accessed by clicking on the title.)

    • The program must be performed by memory (except for the composition by an Azerbaijani composer)

Jury and Decisions

  1. Jury Panel Rules

    • Jury members related to a contestant by blood or serving as their teacher are prohibited from voting for that participant.

    • Decisions made by the jury and during the administrative selection process are final and binding, with no appeals allowed.

Participant Responsibilities and Costs

  1. Visa Assistance

    • The competition organizer is unable to assist participants with visa-related matters, but upon request, can provide a confirmation letter for participants accepted into the Live Round.

    • The competition organizers will handle Azerbaijani visa applications for prize winners.

  2. Costs

    • Participation is at the participant’s own expense, including accommodation, transportation, and other competition-related costs.

    • Prize winners' travel to Azerbaijan is fully covered by the organization.

Media and Publicity

  1. Recording and Broadcasting

    • The organizer reserves the right to photograph, film, and make recordings of all events during the competition.

    • Recordings may be used for publicity purposes or distributed in any format, commercially or non-commercially, without reimbursement to participants.

  2. Cooperation in Media Activities
    Participants are expected to participate in filming, photo sessions, and interviews organized by the competition.

  3. Use of Photos and Videos
    By entering the contest, participants agree that their photos or videos may be used for contest-related purposes, advertising, or other promotional activities.

Equality and Fairness

  1. Non-Discrimination Policy
    Applicants will not be rejected based on gender, ideology, language, politics, religion, or race.

Miscellaneous

  1. General Agreement
    By submitting an application, participants accept these rules and regulations in their entirety.
